It appears Harley is trying to get a new demographic into their bikes. Story linked above says they realized that their traditional market is getting older and younger riders aren't filling in behind them. So they are targeting younger riders in their ads and trying to "introduce" them to HD.

The current financial situation isn't helping as many consider a motorcycle purchase to be a luxury and therefore putting of a purchase.

What do you think? Are you considering a new bike and putting it off while waiting to see what the economy is doing? Do you think Harley will be able to get a younger audience interested in their bikes?

I remember seeing a show on SPEED or one of the other channels that shows a lot of mechanical / tech shows that was talking about their design process, testing process and how they came up with:

it's because of the economy that i decided to buy now! since the dealerships arn't moving bikes as easily, it made it easier for me to get a great deal

honestly, I have been an HD admirer for many years. The problem is I have never been able to afford one. and with today's market all the other companies like honda, suzuki, kawasaki, coming out with their version of the vtwin cruisers. HD is gonna have to lower their prices regardless of the iconic name. Then I think they will be able to pull theirselves up out of the big black hole they are in. JMHO

Harleys will start getting easier, and easier to obtain IMO. The bottom is really dropping hard on the price of used ones (at least around here),and there will be an endless selection as the RUBs begin showing their true colors!

Does this mean there will be more lawyers riding around on Harleys sowing their wild oats and pretending to be... :D
